My name is Chappell (rhymes with apple). I’m a writer, editor, and design advocate. Nothing makes me happier than sitting at a table with people who want to work together to make things better.
Some of the ways I enjoy supporting the design process include: writing, research, content strategy, project management, reporting, editing, and copywriting.
My writing style has changed over the years, but my overall communication philosophy remains the same:
- Be as clear as possible.
- Respect your audience.
I'm a Senior Content Strategist at Huge. Before that, I was a Digital Strategist for the City of New York. Other companies and institutions I've worked for include: Museum of Modern Art, Etsy, Museum of the Moving Image, Razorfish, and Design Observer. I received my MFA in Design Writing, Research and Criticism at the School of Visual Arts, where I often teach.
Recently, I helped make a book about how and why we design for people.
I live in Long Island City, New York, a neighborhood I'm always trying to convince my friends isn't “too far away.” In my spare time you can find me in front of a video game console or sewing machine.
